A rather obvious trick to avoiding temptation is never to put yourself in situations that will lead to temptation. Duh! Same goes for thoughts. If a thought that is contrary to God’s will attempts to possess your mind, rebuke it, and send it on its way. Not that difficult really. Just obedience to God. Don’t even let it creep in. You already know what the result will be, and it’s not pretty!
