One of the reasons Christians no longer believe that Satan is real is that Satan has successfully removed himself from many of the modern ("easier") translations.
I guess Satan didn't like the story about himself in Isaiah 14:12 onward, so he had his name redacted in many translations.

The NIV actually redacts Matt 17:21 (deliverance) and 1John 5:7 (the Godhead).
Stewart, I know what you’re going to say about this “compliment” I’m about to give you, but please resist coming to false conclusions. Yes, I generally agree with you that those who persistently compliment individuals are often after some sort of reward unto themselves. But sometimes, dear friend, compliments are deserved, even slightly. Sometimes, you encounter a truly exceptional person, that you just can not help but throw praises upon. I have met such people in my life, and believe me, I exhibit no ulterior motive in complimenting and thanking them for influencing my life. It is well deserved. At the very least, people are grateful for the concern and compassion expressed toward their fellow man. Is that not what Jesus would have us do? Love one another? And when we see Jesus being expressed through another human being, it becomes irresistible to complement their embracing of His personality. So please, humbly accept your audience’s gratitude for your weekly talks. We are grateful for each other’s gifts.
